What is a VIIBE Mentoring Circle?
Circles are small, identity-affirming communities where STEM students journey together with peers, alumni, faculty, and staff. These collaborative groupscome together to learn from one another, share experiences, and build skills in a supportive environment. They’re designed to foster connection, encourage open dialogue, and help members develop personally and professionally. Whether it’s a major-based group, an identity-focused fellowship, or a career-prep collective, there is a space for you here.
In-Person VIIBE Mentoring Circles start at Monday, October 12 on the Storrs campus.
Virtual VIIBE MentoringCircles begin Tuesday, October 13.
Get Involved with Mentoring Circles
For Students
Mentoring circles are open to all students who want to learn, grow, and connect in a supportive community. Anyone interested in sharing experiences, building skills, and engaging in meaningful dialogue is welcome to join anytime. Even if it is the last week of the semester, come through. It is never to late to be a part of a community. These circles thrive on diverse perspectives, making them a space where members at any stage of their academic or professional journey can contribute and benefit.

For Circle Mentors/LEADs
Are you a peer, alum, faculty, or staff member ready to engage with and lead a community? Anyone who has been a part of the COE community for at least one year (students, staff, faculty, etc), and is willing to commit to monthly check in meetings/events is welcome to apply.
Mentors/LEADS must be willing to commit 3-6 hours per month outside of meetings/events for planning and individualized support with circle if needed.
We are currently accepting Circle proposals and Mentor/LEAD applications now until September 15th.

Campus Change and Transfer Circle
Whether you transferred from another institution, changed majors, or found a new path into engineering, your journey matters. This circle celebrates the diverse experiences that bring people to the College of Engineering and offers a supportive community to connect, share insights, and thrive together.
First-Generation Circle
Being the first in your family to navigate college comes with unique strengths, perspectives, and challenges. The First-Generation Circle is a welcoming community where students, staff, and faculty can share experiences, build connections, celebrate milestones, and learn from others who understand the journey of being a trailblazer.
Immigrant and First/Second-Generation Circle
Our immigrant and first- or second-generation community brings rich cultural traditions, resilience, and global perspectives to engineering. This circle creates space to celebrate heritage, explore shared experiences, build community across generations, and support one another in achieving personal and professional goals.
Neuroinclusive Circle
Different ways of thinking, learning, communicating, and problem-solving strengthen our engineering community. The Neuroinclusive Circle celebrates neurodiversity by fostering connection, sharing strategies for success, and creating an affirming space where all minds and talents are recognized as valuable contributions to innovation.
Regional and Commuter Hybrid ViiBE Circle
Balancing coursework with commuting, work, family responsibilities, or time across multiple campuses requires dedication and flexibility. The Regional and Commuter Hybrid ViiBE Circle celebrates the unique experiences of students, staff, and faculty who engage with the College of Engineering beyond the traditional residential experience while building meaningful connections and community across locations.
